Contact AquaCompat

The fastest way to help AquaCompat is to report a figure you think is wrong, with the source that disagrees. Every number on the site comes from a species, water, disease or equipment fact file, so one correction fixes every page and every compatibility score that uses it. Reports are read by the AquaCompat Editorial Team. The team cannot diagnose sick fish or handle Amazon orders.

How do you reach AquaCompat?

AquaCompat is contacted by email. Write a short message describing the problem, using the checklist below, and the Editorial Team will check it against the published sources. The site has no contact form, so nothing you send is stored on aquacompat.com; how an email is handled is covered in the privacy policy.

What should a data error report include?

A report can be checked quickly when it names the exact value and where a different value is published. Please include:

  • The page address, for example the pair page or species page where you saw the figure.
  • The value you think is wrong, such as a temperature range, adult size, minimum tank, group size or verdict.
  • The source that disagrees: publisher, title and a link or page number. FishBase, Seriously Fish, university extension papers and peer-reviewed papers carry the most weight; the source ranking used for the fact base lists the full order.
  • The species' scientific name, if the problem concerns a species with several trade names or colour forms.
  • For equipment, the exact model and the specification on the manufacturer's own page.

Personal experience with your own fish is welcome as context, but a figure changes only when a published source supports the new value. That rule keeps every number on the site checkable by anyone.

Locate it: Include the exact page and disputed value. Identify it: Name the species or precise equipment model. Support it: Link the published source that disagrees.

What happens after you report an error?

The Editorial Team reads the source you cite and compares it with the sources already in the fact file. If the source supports a change, the fact file is corrected and the old and new figures are recorded side by side where sources disagree. The next build then updates every page, tool and pair score that uses that value, and the updated date changes on each page whose content changed. If the source does not support a change, the reply explains why.

What else can you contact AquaCompat about?

Besides data errors, the team welcomes reports of broken links, links that lead to the wrong product listing, pages that display badly on a particular device, and questions about the Amazon affiliate links or about privacy. Suggestions for species or topics to add are read too, though new species are added only once a full fact file can be built from published sources.

What can AquaCompat not help with?

AquaCompat cannot diagnose or treat sick fish. The site compares published data and does not claim veterinary credentials, so for a disease outbreak, a medication question or fish that keep dying, an aquatic veterinarian is the right contact; the fish disease and tank problem guides explain when one is needed. AquaCompat does not sell anything either, so questions about an order, a delivery or a return go to Amazon or the seller.

Website or data issue: Contact the AquaCompat Editorial Team. Diagnosis or treatment: Consult an aquatic veterinarian. Order or delivery: Contact Amazon or the seller handling the order.
